Sternberg recovered a partial skull ( PMU.R1250) from what is now known as the slightly younger Kirtland Formation in San Juan County, New Mexico. This specimen was sent to Uppsala, Sweden, where Carl Wiman described it as a second species, P. tubicen, in 1931. [20] The specific epithet is derived from the Latin tǔbǐcěn "trumpeter". [21] A second, nearly complete P. tubicen skull ( NMMNH P-25100) was found in New Mexico in 1995. Using computed tomography of this skull, Robert Sullivan and Thomas Williamson gave the genus a monographic treatment in 1999, covering aspects of its anatomy and taxonomy, and the functions of its crest. [7] Williamson later published an independent review of the remains, disagreeing with the taxonomic conclusions. A herd of original and accurate Parasaurolophus were running threw the snowy field in Sierra Nevada, chased by Owen and his DFW guys riding on the horse, leading them to the sanctuary. One of them escape the herd, leading to Owen being on a course and eventually capture it, allowing Owen to touch its face and tell him that everything will be okay and that he will be fine. As Owen, Shep and Rosa herded the Parasaur, they are confronted by Rainn Delacourt, disguised as a DFW officer and showing a fake badge, and accused of illegal poaching. Owen eventually gave in after a gun confrontation and handed the dinosaur to Delacourt. [14] It also appeared in the BBC TV series Prehistoric Park, where it became the prey of large carnivores Deinosuchusand Albertosaurus. Sparks of Storytelling. Braman, Dennis R., and Koppelhus, Eva B. 2005. "Campanian palynomorphs", in Dinosaur Provincial Park, pp. 101-130. Analysis: next to the disappointing Electronic Spinosaurus and the various repaints in the TLWS1 toy line, this wonderful sculpt once again proves Kenner hasn’t lost its touch at designing great dinosaur sculpts. This is without a doubt one of the best models in this toy line and a great addition to the range of herbivorous dinosaur species made for the JP toy lines. Though a hatchling Parasaurolophus was made for the JPS2 toy line, an adult model wasn’t created (unlike for most hatchlings of the two JP toy lines). This model redeems that error on Kenner’s part, with a vengeance. Parasaurolophus makes a brief cameo in the short, drinking at a river while a group of fisherman canoe past it during the end credits. Parasaurolophus was created by InGen [4] in their compound [5] on Isla Sorna where they spent their early lives being raised by the workers there. [3] [5]
