The characters feel honest and humanly flawed, they remain likeable even as they say awful things to each other. Vera Chok (who will play Lauren) said: ‘Theatre brings me such joy, and I’m raring to get back on stage, and what a show to come back with! Normally, that wouldn't bother me, but it feels very excessive with how many f-bombs and other such choices are littered through a single sentence, let alone the whole play. Bar a handful of genuinely terrifying moments, it's hardly The Exorcist, but maybe that's for the best. I really wish it was available when I was doing my Drama A level as it would have been brilliant to do.

Tense, intimate and passionate – 2:22 written by Danny Robins is the latest Ghost Story to hit the West End and has brought the genre right into the 21st century. balances the elements of character and atmosphere within a solidly constructed story that builds to a satisfying conclusion. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. With Halloween around the corner, the new cast for the UK tour of 2:22 – A GHOST STORY edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2:22 – A GHOST STORY has been announced . I loved the building tension as the time crept towards 2:22 and how all of the characters reacted under stress, the uncomfortable truths that were revieled etc.Robins managed to combine suspicion, religion, belief, grief, arguments on both sides of gentrification, thriving and failing relationships, personality clashes. Jenny and her husband Sam have recently bought a large house in Greater London that they are renovating. A contemporary haunted-house chiller that smartly plays with all the old tropes and leaves the room electric with fear.

An argument with Sam about a window which appears to open itself leads to a confession from an exhausted Jen that she has heard ghostly footsteps in the baby’s nursery and the sound of a man crying at the same time each night (you guessed it, 2:22 am) since Sam has been away. Aaron Sorkin’s hit Broadway stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ shapes the classic 1960 novel for a new era. On 29 March 2022, the new cast was announced, starring Tom Felton as Sam, Mandip Gill as Jenny, Beatriz Romilly as Lauren and Sam Swainsbury as Ben.It seems a long way from the audience, and the gaps at the sides are disconcerting; this is another production that would ideally have been staged at the King’s. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. I also think about people in my own life who are similar to the character of Ben and mash it all up together. A Ghost Story posits one explanation for hauntings — that of an experience akin to a Facebook memory, a reminder of an existence, a past that burns brighter in one's consciousness for the brief moment it is presented to you. For Robins, the scares come from keeping things grounded and having the characters drive the story – that’s why he cites films like “The Babadook” or the long-running play “The Woman in Black” as resonating with him.

Written by Danny Robins is pretty damn good and is simplistic in it's approach but impactful on it's conclusion. Louisa Lytton ( EastEnders) and Nathaniel Curtis ( It’s A Sin) give life to Jen and Sam, even if their relationship is neither completely believable nor particularly compelling. Having been a hit at the Edinburgh festival and touring the UK, Sussex resident Jennifer Irons' one-woman show Yukon Ho!This fabulous 7th cast for the 2024 leg of the tour will bring their own energy to these characters, telling the story anew for audiences across the UK. I don't think it's fair for me to really review it as I've not seen the play only read it but I found it enjoyable and did not predict what would happen at 2:22! They are joined by Sam’s oldest friend, Lauren (Beatriz Romilly, Macbeth), and her new beau, Ben (Sam Swainsbury, Fishermans Friends). Robins admits he’s a bit caught off-guard by the success of the show, especially because horror is a genre that rarely garners respect. The ending is a gut punch, a twist that I was not expecting and couldn’t help but audibly responding to.
