Of course, it’ll look better once the far side is enclosed as well; I’m not working on that courtyard side yet. Then there's the House Magic Ephemera Book series: "Gryffindor," "Hufflepuff," "Ravenclaw," and "Slytherin. As I said, I have less progress to share because of my ergonomic issues, not to mention the simple fact that this is a tricky structure to figure out. Jody has also written in Walt Disney's world, especially for and about the Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks with such books as "Popping Up Around Walt Disney World," "Disneyland Challenge," and eight years of souvenir books for both parks. The goal is to depict in 2D and/or 3D what Hogwarts and its surroundings look like in my head, factoring in all the details given in the books.

In the interest of space, therefore, I’ve marked the places where I assume the dormitories to be, and have left it to magic to sort out. This is the reason why this time, I made the blueprints of the castle since I couldn't find it anywhere. Author of "Harry Potter The Creature Vault", "Harry Potter The Book of Magical Places" and "Harry Potter The Characterf Vault", as well as several Disney titles. Presumably, they were still part of that version, and at the time this drawing was created, they simply hadn’t yet decided to raise the quad, add the new arch, remove the cloister and fountain, etc. This has been up on YouTube for a bit but I’ll include it here in case you’re crazy enough to not have already subscribed there.

Fortunately, I’m not as much of a perfectionist as I used to be, so I pressed onward, accepting the fact that close comparisons with the original Hogwarts miniature would still reveal small discrepancies. The technical drawings aren’t super precise either – for most areas, I don’t have detail drawings, only the overall floor plan. Doesn’t look like much yet, but the work has started; I’m just having to pace myself right now because of my repetitive strain injuries. While the footprint of this part of the castle was indeed symmetrical in the original Sorcerer’s Stone design, changes to the adjacent areas in the third film necessitated shortening the area on the right that corresponds to Durham’s south transept.

Did you know they often had to build doors into open archways at the castles and abbeys where they filmed many of the classroom scenes? This remarkable collection showcases the work of the incredible artists who laid the foundation for the visually enchanting magical landscapes of the beloved films. In Prisoner of Azkaban, the conical roofs were replaced with taller belfries and octagonal spires that echo the redesigned central tower, but the lower sections still bear a striking resemblance to Durham Cathedral. That’s all being put on hold for now, though – I just discovered more reference photos that are helping me fill in areas that were otherwise difficult to reconstruct. The language in the books is not always particularly precise, so there is a little room for flexibility in the interpretation. From this view inside the training grounds, the lowest parts will eventually be covered up by grassy lawns. That way I could at least get rid of the hard edges but still keep my computer from blowing a gasket. Then it was just a matter of refining the coloration of the tree and texturing the rocks at the base!
