Guests coming round? Serve this fizz chilled with a side of nuts, hard cheese, continental meat, and salad. Or put on your chef’s hat and rustle up a creamy Dauphinoise fish pie. A splash or two of Prosecco, Champagne, or Cava can take its flavour to a new level.

Knowing the correct temperature Prosecco should be before opening will allow you to get the serving part right and the opening of the bottle should therefore be done correctly - adding to the overall experience. Franciacorta is made from grapes from Franciacorta in Lombardy. It’s dryer than prosecco, but fruitier and softer than champagne, and has distinctive lemony notes. Screw-top sparkling wine

The amount of calories in a glass of Prosecco can vary because Prosecco comes in lots of different styles. It is why we have become a multi-award-winning UK-based company that is proud of what we do and what we have created, we just want to share our products with everyone for everyone to enjoy. Prosecco, which comes from Italy, is usually slightly sweet or ‘off-dry’, light and delicate, and characterised by fruity citrus and apple notes. It’s perfect with canapés, and is very food friendly – it may struggle a little with Asian influenced canapés, but works with most.

Tranquillo - the rarest 1% variety because it has no bubbles at all. It is still produced from Glera grapes and in Veneto region and is hard to find outside Italy. It has less calories: For those dieters among us, who deprive yourselves and reserve alcohol for ‘cheat days’, you can hold your hands up and rejoice. A flute of Prosecco contains just 80 calories or around 60 calories less than a glass of wine. See, all things enjoyed in moderation! With champagne, a still wine is fermented for a second time in the bottle to create the fizz. But with prosecco, this second fermentation usually happens in a large pressurised tank, and the wine is filtered and bottled afterwards. This is less labour-intensive and less time-consuming, which is why it can be cheaper. It also helps explain why champagne has more mature tasting flavours, while prosecco is fresh and fruity. What makes a good prosecco? There are 3 styles of Prosecco, although the original still wine is now hardly ever seen. The other 2 are Prosecco Frizzante and Prosecco Spumante – the difference between the 2 is purely down to the amount of sparkle and fizz in the glass – Frizzante has a lighter, more gentle bubble, but the difference is minimal – Frizzante has 2.5 bars of pressure in the bottle, Spumante has 3. Helen McGinn – Author, drinks writer, TV presenter and co-chair of the International Wine ChallengeProsecco is a great drink that can be used for a variety of different occasions, both celebratory and casually too.

The bubbles come from a second fermentation that’s carried out inside the bottle. The carbon dioxide formed can’t escape, so it dissolves into the wine – which is why, when the bottle is opened, the wine sparkles. When you’re ready to serve, place your fizz in a container filled with water and ice, as this is better than just using ice alone. As a last resort, you can pop the bottle in the freezer, but make sure you remember to take it out in 20 minutes or less. All of our products at Think Wine are low calorie and low sugar too, with a 100ml serving of Prosecco being just 62 calories and 0.7g of sugar - whilst a standard brand of Prosecco will have around 90 calories per glass and around 1.5 grams of sugar.Prosecco is both a grape variety, and a wine region, in northern Italy. Over recent years, it has become known as the definitive brand name for Italian sparkling wine, arguably the most successful wine launch in recent years. Where Cava reigned supreme for the last 15 years, as the affordable alternative to Champagne, Prosecco has now taken over that mantle.

Investing in a wine stopper can specifically help sparkling wines keep their fizz once they have been opened. It is advised once a bottle of Prosecco is opened it should only be kept in the refrigerator for 24-36 hours with a stopper. We have put this article together for you - so if you are not knowledgeable on how to open Prosecco, then please stay tuned for more.

The best prosecco to buy

There is less pressure in a bottle of Prosecco - 3 vs 4 or 5 atmospheres. The bubbles in Prosecco will be a bit frothier than the bubbles and less fine than champagne bubbles. Pouring Prosecco into a glass that is resting flat will require a bit more patience, due to the nature of the bubbles in Prosecco hitting the bottom of the glass which will cause a bit of foam - this is why many choose to pour Prosecco onto the side of the glass on an angle to cushion the bubbles. Prosecco contains antioxidants which have been proven to benefit your blood flow. Many people do not know this but Prosecco is considered to be as healthy for your heart as red wine. Prosecco helps to strengthen the blood vessels and prevent blood clots and it has been said that drinking one to three glasses of Prosecco a week could be good for your memory. It’s usually made from three Catalan grapes: macabeo, xarel-lo and parellada, although some of the large cava producers have started to use chardonnay and pinot noir as well. It isn’t reserved just for celebrations: Because Prosecco isn’t associated with extravagance, it can be enjoyed whenever you feel like it. Whether you serve it at a party with your nearest and dearest, or a glass on you own in the evening – it’s the perfect anytime treat.
